I love to photograph Southern weddings which typically feature gorgeous, historic antebellum homes complete with several hundred year old live oaks draped in Spanish Moss. Such was the case for Amy & Rusty’s Vicksburg wedding at Cedar Grove Inn in October. Vicksburg is a nationally recognized town for its involvement in the Civil War. Cedar Grove’s claim to fame is its holes left in the created by cannonballs during the war.
As typical a backdrop as it was for a southern wedding, Amy and Rusty are a far cry from typical. Hailing from Philadelphia, MS, the wedding couple are full of love, passion and tattoos. They opted to do the First Look in which they saw each other before the wedding ceremony (about 1 hour prior) in the back area behind Cedar Grove. This beautiful setting allowed them a private meeting place for their first encounter in wedding attire. I captured the emotional meeting from a distance, allowing them to feel alone and able to freely express themselves.
The groom even teared up during the actual ceremony despite the first look, which proves the first look doesn’t make the ceremony any less special. It’s just…different. Enjoy their photos and as always, please comment on the photos.

Aaron…..in a word….WOW! These pictures are breathtaking! Simply beautiful! I cannot wait to see all the wedding pictures.

You can come out to the plantation anytime to take some shots if you have a bride looking for a vintage feel.
