After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom leave the alter radiating emotions of joy, relief, excitement, shock, and above all are ready for the wedding reception! Right after the ceremony and before posing for wedding party photos, the bride and groom’s emotions explode through sincere expressions, putting their arms up in victory, jumping in excitement, and more kisses because the one at the alter just wasn’t enough. These are perfect pictures for the wedding album as reminders to the bride and groom exactly how it felt in the first moments that were officially Husband and Wife. With so much energy steamrolling ahead and so much movement everywhere you look, these can be some difficult photos to capture. I love the challenge, staying one step ahead and trying to predict where the next shot will be. Many times when the newlywed couple see their photos for the first time, these photos make them gasp, smile, cry, with the exclamation “I didn’t even realize you photographed this!” Giving someone that reaction is part of why I love what I do. Just add in some late afternoon natural light, and now there is some true art being made.
