French Quarter Jackson Square { marriage proposal }

When Patrick contacted me about photographing his surprises triage proposal to his girlfriend of one year, Melinda, in the New Orleans French Quarter in front of St. Louis Cathedral (Jackson Square) on a Saturday morning I was exuberant and was immediately thinking of where my background would be. I began thinking of a way to disguise myself as a “non professional”‘photographer in Jackson Square since it’s against the park rules to take professional photos without written permission.

I took my chances and arrived 10 minutes early and taped a large black “x” to the ground where I wanted Patrick to stand/kneel. He arrived on time with Melinda and their two best friends who helped Patrick plan the proposal. As soon as they stood on the “x” on the ground, the two friends snapped their picture and then down Patrick went on one knee to the surprise of Melinda who was completely caught off guard! I captured it all from about 30 feet away.

After the proposal (and she said “yes”), we did a brief photo session throughout the French Quarter. Enjoy the photos below.
