Double exposure was always an interest of mine when I used to shoot black and white film, but with digital photography and Photoshop, it’s easier than ever to achieve such an effect. I blended a photo of a man with a dark background with several layers of a B&W photo of a Louisiana bald cypress tree of varying opacity at “overlay” and “soft light” blend modes using Photoshop. Using layer masking I removed parts of different layers until I achieved the effect I was going for: a fairly clean face and especially clear eyes and the rest of the image being mostly tree branches.
