Maggie and Brent drove 11 hours all the way from Oklahoma City to have their engagement photos taken! They are getting married in 17 short days at St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter of New Orleans with a reception to follow at Murial’s. Maggie went to college in Dallas and met Brent when she moved to Oklahoma City where Brent attended Oklahoma University. When asked why they chose New Orleans, Maggie responded that it just seemed like a fun destination. I am so excited they chose to get married here! They have been such an easy couple to work with, and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in a couple weeks!
We met at Louisiana State University and while we were choosing outfits for the shoot, Maggie mentioned how fun it would be to do the photo shoot in the rain! Brent agreed. The forecast said no chance of rain all day, and at the start of the shoot there were very few clouds in the sky…and it was SO HOT! It was looking like they were getting the opposite of their wish. But oh, Louisiana weather…
An hour into the shoot we started feeling rain drops! You could see the excitement in their eyes and feel it in their attitudes as we ran back to the car to change. The light shining through the rain onto the road was just MAGICAL. After standing in the street in the rain, dodging cars for what seemed like forever, we finally had the street to ourselves for just enough time to catch the perfect picture! You could just see how much fun they were having and how in love they are.
Right after this it started to monsoon! Brent really started loosening up at this point, and they both started kicking and playing in the puddles. It was so fun to see!
I am more than excited for these two to get married and I really cannot wait to photograph their quaint, family wedding in the French Quarter! Below are some of my favorite shots from the engagement shoot!
