Debutantes are a Southern Tradition that I enjoy photographing. Especially debutantes in New Orleans and Baton Rouge where it’s a BIG DEAL. It’s a beautiful time in a young woman’s life, right before she enters her adult life in college. Debutante photography is unique in that it’s very similar to bridal photography in that it’s generally done outdoors among plantations such as those found throughout New Orleans and St. Francisville, Louisiana. However, the photographer is dealing with a girl who is much younger than most brides. The dresses are actually wedding gowns with small or no trains.
This particular deb (short for debutante) is Kaitlyn Anton, a senior at Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge and is a member of the 2012-2013 Karnival Krewe de Louisiane ball that was Februrary 2013. There were 13 debutantes this year and I got to know each one! Enjoy Kaitlyn’s debutante session in St. Francisville at Rosedown Plantation. Enjoy her debutante photography session in St. Francisville, LA.
