If you have ever had your engagement, wedding or bridal session photographed by us at Eye Wander Photo, your feedback is not only desired, it’s actually needed. Believe it or not, we need help from you to continue doing business. Word of mouth referrals and online seraching make up our largest source of clients. Below are the top 5 websites for which we need reviews. You’ll notice The Knot is listed twice. That’s because we have two listings under Wedding Photographers. New Orleans Wedding Photography at Children’s Museum | Kurt & Rebecca 11.11.11

Few weddings top the energy of Kurt and Rebecca’s reception at the Children’s Museum in the Warehouse District of New Orleans on November 11, 2011, arguably the most sought after wedding day of 2011. I mean who wouldn’t want to get married on 11.11.11?! They had a sweet ceremony at St. Paul’s Lutheran church on Burgundy Street in the Marigny, followed by a short drive over to the place where dreams come true! Activities at their reception included rock climbing and standing in a huge 6 ft bubble. Action figures and wind-up toys served as table decor. This wedding was a far cry from your typical dance party! Kurt and Rebecca truly know how to rock their guest’s socks off! Listed below are the wedding vendors.

New Orleans Lighting Workshop January 14, 2012 | Imaging USA pre-conference workshop

Exciting news! I’ll be teaching a lighting workshop January 14, 2012 the day before Imaging USA convention in New Orleans. We’ll be in the Warehouse District for an on-location lighting workshop outdoors during all times of day from midday through afternoon and ending at dusk. The class is $249 and limited to 25 people. If you sign up quick you’ll be able to bring a friend for only $149! We’ll be using large studio strobes (Alien Bees w/ 53″ Octobox attached) powered by the Vagabond Mini as well as an assortment of speedlights and video lights. Details below. The workshop is hosted by post production and album design company Revolution Imaging & Design which is based in Oregon. I use them for post production and album design.

Latrobe’s | New Orleans wedding photography | Mary & Mark 10.10.10

October 10, 2010, probably the busiest wedding day of the year in the US, I was fortunate not only to photograph my new favorite top New Orleans wedding venue Latrobe’s On Royal, but also capture the essence of a newlywed couple who couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Mary and Mark, currently living in Cincinnati, OH, are lovers to the “nth” degree. Their fiery love for one another is contagious, bold and beautiful.

As you watch the slideshow below, enjoy the colors and textures of Latrobe’s On Royal. But also experience the depth of character within Mary and Mark as you appreciate their dancing and musical tastes. These two lovers are at home within the French Quarter, and I hope they decide to move there one day. In the meantime, my goal is to bring them right back to that special October day in the French Quarter. Oh, and what an awesome Second Line dance around the block following the reception!

Galveston, TX Engagement Photography | Herb & Heather 3.7.10

Herb and Heather, an engaged couple who having a New Orleans wedding April 9, 2010 in the French Quarter at the New Orleans Ritz Carlton, share a love of both Louisiana and Texas, having homes in both Hammond, LA and Galveston, TX. During the planning of their engagement session, Herb, an avid pilot and owner of a super fast Mooney Ovation 2 single engine prop plane, offered to fly my assistant and I to his Galveston home for the engagement photos. How exciting!

Galveston and New Orleans have very much in common, such as The Strand of Galveston. It’s so similar in architecture to New Orleans’ French Quarter. The art galleries, ice cream parlors, wrought iron gates and railings, the bold colors of the walls, peeling paint, etc. Talk about a photographer’s field day. New Orleans engagement photography | McKenna & Chris 12.28.09

McKenna and Chris were such fun to photograph. They’re not only very attactive, but they were game for one of my full afternoon-extending-throug-evening New Orleans engagement sessions. Chris warned me his smile wasn’t natural in front of the camera, but I beg to differ. At least in front of MY camera. Must be the Nikon glass I used.

The session began uptown New Orleans in Audubon Park and then we finished in the French Quarter in the freezing cold temperatures. I applaud McKenna and Chris for braving the cold. But alas, the photos are ready and I feel pretty darn good about the turnout. It was worth the cold, wasn’t it guys? I am really looking forward to your Annadele’s Plantation (Covington, LA) wedding in April. Enjoy!

Destrehan Plantation Wedding Photography | Adriene & Mark 10.10.09

Adriene & Mark are one of those special couples that come into my life only once in a while who bring peace to me as a photographer. They are truly in love as was evident during their Baton Rouge engagement session at a local park in Goodwood. On October 10, 2009, their wedding day, it rained most of the day until the late afternoon. I was able to do some bridal portraits before the ceremony of Adriene at Destrehan Plantation in Destrehan, LA, close to New Orleans. Adriene did not want Mark to see her prior to the ceremony in her beautiful wedding dress so we did the session with just her in the historic Destrehan home which was built in 1787. We got special permission to shoot inside the home.

Nottoway Plantation wedding photography | Mock Wedding of Libby & Drew 10.19.09

This is a very unique wedding of two very fantastic, energetic and loving people, Libby and Drew, on October 19, 2009. We had the perfect backdrop for a wedding at the largest plantation in the South, Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, LA. We had all the normal elements of a wedding but one thing set this wedding apart from all others–it was a fake wedding at Nottoway.

It all started with a desire to show off Nottoway Plantation, the largest Southern United States Plantation, and their brand new renovations. I have always been drawn to the location because of it’s gorgeous one-of-a-kind castle-like home and it’s carefully landscaped grounds. When Lexi De Brock, the wedding coordinator of Nottoway, met me we began talking about a way to promote the place to future brides. We decided a mock wedding in which we chose all the vendors would be the best method to promote Nottoway in the right light.

As with any wedding (even if it is a mock wedding), I first needed a bride and groom, so I chose Libby and Drew Murrell for their uncanny ability to be super natural and fun in front of the camera. I shot their wedding video at Houmas House Plantation so because I never got to photograph them, here was my chance. I teamed up with Baton Rouge florist Kali Soulier of Trinity Flowers, LLC to help organize the vendors, people and the “look” of our wedding. Kali did an immaculate job with the flowers and gave me a white flower petal aisle for the bride to walk down. Talk about beautiful! She created wonderful white and ivory flowers arrangements throughout the ceremony site including many pomanders for each of the 10 hooks that were positioned next to each row of chairs. She also hung white lantern globes from our two large live oak trees, and finally, she provided the programs that were hung on the backs of the chairs. Limousine service was provided by Professional Limousine Service, Inc., the cake provided by Fairy Dust Cakes, hair and makeup provided by Tina Rodosta of Bridal Beauty Consulting, tuxes provided by Squires Formal Wear in Baton Rouge, and bridesmaid dresses provided by Bridal Boutique. Kelsey from Something Borrowed provided the beautiful gold table linens for the reception and the ceremony chair sashes. I photographed and Contrast Films filmed the wedding in HD using 5D Mark II DSLR/video cameras for ultimate quality.

We spent two months planning this day and in the end, we had a grand event with everything from a bridal luncheon to outdoor ceremony with a flower-lined aisle (I always love weddings with flower aisles) and plenty of time to photograph the couple. We also had a small reception complete with dancing. Libby’s dad even played piano for Libby while her mother sang beautifully.

Lexi and Nottoway’s entire staff was a pleasure to work with and if and when you have your wedding there, you’ll be greeted with a warm and friendly smile from them. Lexi is so great with the details! Thanks Lexi!

Hemingbough wedding photography | Sydney & Michael sneak peek

When I first met Sydney & Michael I knew they were going to be an easy couple to work with because they both appreciate my artistic & documentary style of wedding photography. Their true fun and whimsical personalities came out during our day trip to New Orleans for their French Quarter engagement photography session. Then I convinced Sydney that doing the first look was the best way to do her pre-ceremony photos so that not only could we capture them in their most fresh moments but also help them take the edge off of everything and look each other in the eye, having a moment to share their feelings with each other. Sydney later told me that she remembers nothing from her wedding day except those few moments she spent with Michael during the first look. That made me smile!

All the flowers were artistically designed by Lani Guilbeau of Fleur Du Jour, one of best Baton Rouge florists around.
