Baton Rouge Wedding Photography | Megan & Brandon 3.12.11

Megan and Brandon’s wedding in March of 2011 was held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA. What a gorgeous day it was for a spring wedding! So many personalized touches went into their big day; they truly made it their own. From Megan’s bouquet encased in a sheath of fabric from her mother’s wedding gown, to their Parent’s wedding portraits framed on the tables at the reception, which was held at Louisiana Old State Capitol. Amongst their guests was the famous stuffed animal Parrot who has become a tradition between their friends. Too fun! They had a blast on their wedding day! This wedding was shot the day before Aaron Hogan, Eye Wander Photo’s owner/president, fell from the second story of a building just around the corner from where this wedding was held. What a day! New Orleans Lighting Workshop January 14, 2012 | Imaging USA pre-conference workshop

Exciting news! I’ll be teaching a lighting workshop January 14, 2012 the day before Imaging USA convention in New Orleans. We’ll be in the Warehouse District for an on-location lighting workshop outdoors during all times of day from midday through afternoon and ending at dusk. The class is $249 and limited to 25 people. If you sign up quick you’ll be able to bring a friend for only $149! We’ll be using large studio strobes (Alien Bees w/ 53″ Octobox attached) powered by the Vagabond Mini as well as an assortment of speedlights and video lights. Details below. The workshop is hosted by post production and album design company Revolution Imaging & Design which is based in Oregon. I use them for post production and album design.

When Michael and Lacey first decided to book me for their May 2011 wedding (at White Oak Plantation) as their Baton Rouge based wedding photographer, I was in Paris, France shooting an engagement session. I spoke to them on the phone after they’d met with my mother and I was overwhelmed with excitement- not just because they decided to use me as their wedding photographer out of the many choices but mostly because their personalities were so “open” over the phone. Their friendly, charismatic mannerisms moved me and I decided at that time I was going to have fun with this couple.

When we finally met in person after I returned we began our in-person relationship with a very upbeat note and I knew then we’d be friends well beyond my duties as wedding, bridal and engagement photographer.

The engagement session took place at Cinclare’s Sugar Mill as well as Downtown Baton Rouge. If you have studied up on my work you may know my obsession with Cinclare’s due to its overall dilapidation. I thrive in quiet abandoned places. Sometimes it may be dangerous shot photograph in these types of places, but with my recent accident I was in, I will be much more careful in these locations. Cinclare’s is closing down soon it appears so this is probably one of the last sessions I’ll have had the opportunity to photograph there.

What started as a beautiful outdoor setting for a wedding at LSU’s Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge ended rocking reception fit for a king…a rock star king. Kristen & Brenan Wells of Baton Rouge tied the knot at Rural Life which was such an epic location for an October afternoon ceremony. (October is our most heavily booked wedding month and for good reason).

The wedding party consisted of Kristen and Brenan’s best rock star buddies, and the evening was filled with love, charisma, jello shots, a pole dance on the LSU party bus, a super fun choreographed first dance, and let’s not forget man love…lots and lots of it. The reception was held at Elegant Affairs in Prairieville, LA.

Wow, Panama City Beach, Florida provides a gorgeous backdrop for a fun destination engagement photo session! Hunter, a Marine who trains other Marines to scuba dive, is now living there so we did his engagement session with his gorgeous fiance’ Kaitlyn. They will be married in Denham Springs on Nov. 13, 2010.
Enjoy the connection between these two lovers as well as the landscape. Their energy and enthusiasm for the engagement session pushed me to be creative.

Kristin Jarvis and Matt Marrs tied the knot on a beautiful late May day at Hemingbough in St. Francisville. The couple now resides in the Mandeville/Covington area. Jennifer Arnes, a Baton Rouge based bride-to-be, and her fiance, Chris Campbell, live in Santa Monica, CA and wanted their engagement photos their since they had more in common as a couple in California than they did in Baton Rouge where their wedding will be held on September 10, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral downtown.
