Because so many of our own family and friends have been touched in some way by this disease, we wanted to spend time getting to know those people in our community in a creative light. We invite you to participate in our new Fall series called Capturing Cancer.

We are interested in local stories of survival, courage and the battle of ALL types of cancer. If you, or anyone you know, has beaten cancer or who is currently going through it and would like to tell your story (the good, the bad, or the ugly), we would like to hear from you. These stories can be first hand accounts, family perspectives or even stories of inspiration, advice and support to others.

We are going to collect stories via email through October 31 and feature several on our blog over the next few months. Those selected will receive a complimentary in-studio photo shoot* (with family and support network or alone) to accompany their story which will showcase true beauty inside and out – capturing all aspects of cancer.

We want to create art, but most importantly, we want to create a place where people can go for support and comfort.

*Please email all stories and inquiries to Lauren@eyewanderphoto.com through October 31. If your story is selected for our blog, we will contact you to schedule and discuss your photo shoot.

*shoots will be scheduled on weekdays between November 1 – December 18

*please keep stories to 1500 words or less

Feel free to pass this to as many people as you wish. We look forward to hearing from you and getting to know real people in our community from a different perspective!

Thank you from all of us at Eye Wander Photo.

Every now and then I do a photo session for a client in which I feel like I’m truly being an artist. That’s of course why I got into this profession in the first place. But as a full-time business owner, sometimes my artistic side suffers for the sake of order fulfillment, emailing, answering phones, editing images, etc. All these tasks are necessary for me to succeed but they often prevent me from expressing my inner artist self. This session was one of those in which I felt like an artist again, shooting for myself (even if I was hired by a client). I have been experimenting with black and white conversions using Nik’s Silver Efex Pro filter (an awesome highly recommended Photoshop plugin).

Rosalyn approached me with a simple idea to photograph her with fabric draped over her body and to photograph the fabric as it fluttered in the wind. The session was one of the shorter sessions I’ve done recently but the results are stellar. Let me know your feedback on the photos. If you like what you see or want to offer suggestions for improvement, I’d LOVE to hear from you. Yes, I’m talking to YOU.
