Hello I’m Jency. The wife of the Mr. Aaron Hogan. We have been married for six months, and it has been amazing! But I wanted to let you in on a little secret to Aaron’s heart. He is obsessed with fresh fruit juice. When you register for wedding presents you don’t really know which presents will end up being your favorite. But we have decided to declare that this beautiful piece of metal is our favorite appliance ever made. The shiny Breville citrus juicer. It makes juicing soooo easy, and it is super easy to clean. So if you are a bride and you are registering I’d say to consider it. I decided to throw on my wedding dress on and surprise Aaron this morning with fresh blood orange juice. I love my dress and I’m always looking for a reason to put it on. I think that the surprise is a fun element. Aaron got a kick out of seeing me in it again. He bought my dress for me and surprised me with it about a month before our wedding date. He bought it at this link on Etsy, from a designer who lives in China. Who says you can’t put your wedding dress on when you ever you want, even to make juice in your kitchen. When I put it on I felt the material flowing around my body as I walked barefoot through the kitchen this morning it took me back to my wedding day so fast. The feeling made me do a little dance around the kitchen. Ladies, if you are married I say go grab that dress and surprise your husband. If your not married yet then get ready for the most exciting ride of your life. What fun.

Megan and Brandon’s wedding in March of 2011 was held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA. What a gorgeous day it was for a spring wedding! So many personalized touches went into their big day; they truly made it their own. From Megan’s bouquet encased in a sheath of fabric from her mother’s wedding gown, to their Parent’s wedding portraits framed on the tables at the reception, which was held at Louisiana Old State Capitol. Amongst their guests was the famous stuffed animal Parrot who has become a tradition between their friends. Too fun! They had a blast on their wedding day! This wedding was shot the day before Aaron Hogan, Eye Wander Photo’s owner/president, fell from the second story of a building just around the corner from where this wedding was held. What a day! St. Francisville Wedding Photography at Afton Villa Gardens | Alicia & Cory 3.26.11

Alicia and Cory’s wedding back in March of 2011 was held at the beautiful and majestic Afton Villa Gardens in St. Francisville, LA. This gorgeous venue was established in 1849 and is one of the best hidden jewels in St. Francisville. The fresh spring weather was perfect the day of the wedding, but nothing compared to what a beautiful bride Alicia made. Cory was glowing the whole day every time he caught a glance at his bride! If you have ever been to St. Francisville in the Spring time, you know it is a hard sight to beat! All the flowers in the garden were in bloom, including the tulips, which made an amazing setting for their first look at each other before the ceremony. It was a true Louisiana wedding reception to end the night, complete with a funky Cajun Zydeco band! Below are the wedding vendors from this event.

Few weddings top the energy of Kurt and Rebecca’s reception at the Children’s Museum in the Warehouse District of New Orleans on November 11, 2011, arguably the most sought after wedding day of 2011. I mean who wouldn’t want to get married on 11.11.11?! They had a sweet ceremony at St. Paul’s Lutheran church on Burgundy Street in the Marigny, followed by a short drive over to the place where dreams come true! Activities at their reception included rock climbing and standing in a huge 6 ft bubble. Action figures and wind-up toys served as table decor. This wedding was a far cry from your typical dance party! Kurt and Rebecca truly know how to rock their guest’s socks off! Listed below are the wedding vendors.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
• Camera functions & exposure control (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, white balance)
• Learn proper on-camera flash and available lighting techniques
• Learn when to use which lens
• Learn composition rules for portraits and landscapes
• Develop an artistic eye which opens up the photographic possibilities around you
• Post production – shoot and edit in RAW format using professional software (software not provided)

• Digital SLR camera with at least one zoom lens covering the 18-55mm or 24-70mm range (required)
• Extra battery for your camera (optional)
• 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 lens (ideal but optional)
• Detacheable on-camera speedlight flash (optional)
• Laptop (Mac or PC required)
• Your own licensed (legal) copy of Photoshop CS4 OR Photoshop CS5 OR Lightroom 3.0 (optional but HIGHLY recommended)

HOW MUCH:
• Early registration through February 7 is only $300 for the student and a friend/family member is $200

• After Feb 7 the price will increase to regular price of $375/student with a friend/family member at $250

I got a call while on vacation in Las Vegas with my wife from a guy in Mississippi named Ray looking for a photographer. He is going to propose marriage to his girlfriend at a nice restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans (Galatoire’s Restaurant) and wanted it documented professionally. Turns out the shoot was actually tonight and went amazing. Everyone in the restaurant clapped so loud for him. Included in the audience was William Shatner, Lou Ferrigno (the original Incredible Hulk), and Stan Lee (from Marvel Comics). Quite a lot of pressure on poor Ray, but he pulled it off with flying colors. Enjoy the emotions!

New Orleans Lighting Workshop January 14, 2012 | Imaging USA pre-conference workshop

Exciting news! I’ll be teaching a lighting workshop January 14, 2012 the day before Imaging USA convention in New Orleans. We’ll be in the Warehouse District for an on-location lighting workshop outdoors during all times of day from midday through afternoon and ending at dusk. The class is $249 and limited to 25 people. If you sign up quick you’ll be able to bring a friend for only $149! We’ll be using large studio strobes (Alien Bees w/ 53″ Octobox attached) powered by the Vagabond Mini as well as an assortment of speedlights and video lights. Details below. The workshop is hosted by post production and album design company Revolution Imaging & Design which is based in Oregon. I use them for post production and album design.

Baton Rouge Portrait Photographer | Capturing Cancer Series

October brings a serious topic to our attention – Breast Cancer Awareness. Because so many of our own family and friends have been touched in some way by this disease, we wanted to spend time getting to know those people in our community in a creative light. We invite you to participate in our new Fall series called Capturing Cancer.

We are interested in local stories of survival, courage and the battle of ALL types of cancer. If you, or anyone you know, has beaten cancer or who is currently going through it and would like to tell your story (the good, the bad, or the ugly), we would like to hear from you. These stories can be first hand accounts, family perspectives or even stories of inspiration, advice and support to others.

We are going to collect stories via email through October 31 and feature several on our blog over the next few months. Those selected will receive a complimentary in-studio photo shoot* (with family and support network or alone) to accompany their story which will showcase true beauty inside and out – capturing all aspects of cancer.

We want to create art, but most importantly, we want to create a place where people can go for support and comfort.

*Please email all stories and inquiries to Lauren@eyewanderphoto.com through October 31. If your story is selected for our blog, we will contact you to schedule and discuss your photo shoot.

*shoots will be scheduled on weekdays between November 1 – December 18
