Wow, Panama City Beach, Florida provides a gorgeous backdrop for a fun destination engagement photo session! Hunter, a Marine who trains other Marines to scuba dive, is now living there so we did his engagement session with his gorgeous fiance’ Kaitlyn. They will be married in Denham Springs on Nov. 13, 2010.
Enjoy the connection between these two lovers as well as the landscape. Their energy and enthusiasm for the engagement session pushed me to be creative.

Hemingbough is a beautiful setting for a wedding, especially when you’ve got the likes of Baton Rouge’s top notch wedding coordinator Allie Webster of Weddings By Allie as well as flowers by Baton Rouge’s premier florist, Lani Guilbeau of Fleur Du Jour as your vendors. Kristin Jarvis and Matt Marrs tied the knot on a beautiful late May day at Hemingbough in St. Francisville. The couple now resides in the Mandeville/Covington area. Here’s a fun little sneak peek of Amy and Brian’s engagement session we did on Angola Prison property April 25, 2010. This sequence was from a wheat field near the old death row building. I don’t normally upload cheesy things like this (animated gifs…so 1990s!!!) but whatever. This couple was super fun and this shows it.

Having just returned from Santa Monica, CA doing an engagement session, I immediately left for Rosemary Beach, FL to photograph Shelley and Don’s destination wedding in Rosemary Beach, FL over the March 26-28 weekend. Shelley and Don are both residents of Baton Rouge, LA but they fell in love with the quaint community near Destin, FL. I’d never been to Rosemary Beach prior to the wedding but now I have good reason to return. It’s basically set up like a movie set complete with people strolling in the park with their dogs and tossing balls to one another.

The coverage began with a rehearsal dinner Friday night at Tuscany Italian Bistro Destin, FL. 36178 Emerald Coast Pkwy Destin, FL 32541. The food was AWESOME! But even better was the company and the stories Shelley and Don’s closest friends and family shared about them. There were tears, laughter, and more tears. Can I just say that I absolutely LOVE photographing rehearsal dinners?!!

The wedding was held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Rosemary Beach’s beautiful chapel-like Town Hall building near the Western Green. The reception was on the Western Green. Of course the lighting was perfect for the 4pm ceremony. I adore late afternoon lighting and it only got better after the ceremony. The reception was held under tents and at one point just around sunset I asked the couple if I could make some portraits of them alone on the beach. They were totally excited about it and we milked the light until there was no more.

Video was provided by CF Weddings and a preview of the wedding video will be online shortly and will be linked to this blog posting. It’s gonna rock so be on the lookout for that within a week.

Erin and Nicholas brought little curious Adia to my studio in March for her first professional baby portrait session. It was time for her three month old portraits. Her huge eyes buzzed and whirled with amazement at the big soft studio lights. I felt blessed to capture the most special bond among the family with a new addition. Adia is scheduled for 3 more sessions with me so I can document her first year of development. We’re looking forward to putting a book of the best together at the end of the year. Santa Monica, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Malibu, Venice…theses are some of the locations Chris and Jennifer took me to during their engagement session weekday shooting spree March 22-23, 2010. Jennifer Arnes, a Baton Rouge based bride-to-be, and her fiance, Chris Campbell, live in Santa Monica, CA and wanted their engagement photos their since they had more in common as a couple in California than they did in Baton Rouge where their wedding will be held on September 10, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral downtown. Galveston, TX Engagement Photography | Herb & Heather 3.7.10

Herb and Heather, an engaged couple who having a New Orleans wedding April 9, 2010 in the French Quarter at the New Orleans Ritz Carlton, share a love of both Louisiana and Texas, having homes in both Hammond, LA and Galveston, TX. During the planning of their engagement session, Herb, an avid pilot and owner of a super fast Mooney Ovation 2 single engine prop plane, offered to fly my assistant and I to his Galveston home for the engagement photos. How exciting!

Galveston and New Orleans have very much in common, such as The Strand of Galveston. It’s so similar in architecture to New Orleans’ French Quarter. The art galleries, ice cream parlors, wrought iron gates and railings, the bold colors of the walls, peeling paint, etc. Talk about a photographer’s field day. Engagement photography in South Louisiana | Chrissy & Dan 3.17.10

This engagement session began in a bar in Breaux Bridge’s Landry’s Seafood. We didn’t take photos inside the bar, but the couple, Dan and Chrissy, needed a little encouragement prior to the beginning of their session. They had a couple drinks just to loosen them up.

This helps with couples who tense up easily in front of the camera, yet want to remain themselves during their engagement session. We did the session between Breaux Bridge and Arnaudville, Louisiana, not too far from Lafayette, LA. We found a really massive oak tree with the most amazing exposed root system along the way. Then we headed towards the historic district of quaint Breaux Bridge, wrapping up the session in front of the town’s renowned landmark, the Pont Breaux (the bridge after which the town is named which also seems to be the hype of the town).

Chrissy and Dan will be married at Nottoway Plantation on August 7, 2010.

Xtreme Talent and Eye Wander Photo are teaming up to find the best variety talent, models and actors in the Baton Rouge area. We’re hosting an event at Elegant Memories in Central to help you get signed on with Xtreme Talent as your talent/modeling and acting agency. We are seeking talented variety entertainers (any type of talent including juggling, face painting, stilt walking, balloon twisting, unicyclists, contortionists, and much more). Whatever variety entertainment you can do, bring it on. We want to see what you can do. We’re also looking for talented and inspiring actors/actresses as well as models looking to get signed and build a solid portfolio. Xtreme Talent is signing on with different production companies to bring the work to you.
Local Baton Rouge and New Orleans actors seeking entrance into the film industry are welcome.
